All about play
Play is for everyone
All children have the right to play as part of a happy, healthy childhood, whoever they are and wherever they live. Playing is something that children do whenever they have the chance and it’s okay for children to choose how they play.
At some point in their childhood, many children will come up against something that gets in the way of playing. It could be a change in their situation – like moving school, having an illness, coming across negative attitudes or living somewhere without safe, accessible places to play.
Teenagers in particular often face barriers to playing or hanging out. These can include feeling unwelcome or adults not really understanding why playing and socialising is important to them.
