Playful tips for parents
The more your child plays, the more they’ll develop their play skills and the more confident you’ll feel about supporting them. When playing is part of your family’s daily routine, you and your child can get into the habit of play – playing at home and when you are out and about. Your child will gain skills and understanding that will help to prepare them for playing outside independently and safely when they are ready.
It can be challenging to work out how best to support your child’s play. They play and hangout or socialise in different ways that are always changing.
To help, here are some straightforward tips and advice for a range of situations. They include things like managing screen time, supporting children of different ages and having other people’s children round to play at your house.
